The internet shaped a lot of my humour. I got on the computer at a really young age, so it's had a lot of influence on me. I remember young me going on the early days of YouTube and being shaped by creators like Smosh, Nigahiga, and various gaming channels. I also was really into the meme culture of the time. I'll never forget classics like dramatic gopher, afro ninja, numa numa, or caramelldansen.
If I could go back to that era just one more time, I would. I enjoy how things are now, but it doesn't hurt to nostalgiafag every once in a while, right?
Internet taught me coding. Plus I wasted thousands of hours on youtube.
Also it got me into music.
After discovering 4chan and turning to it to compensate my lack of social life I had a few fun experiences. The price being swimming in an ocean of shit 90% of the time.
Also, check out this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LOLCODE>>1475
A youtuber taught me cussing. Funny part is I didn't know it was cussing so I said those words in front of my mum once
Anyway I'm pretty sensitive to nostalgia. When I find something from the past it's just full of those old emotions which I guess I miss a bit. Seems almost like I felt more as a kid
I really want to talk about my feelings and experince related to the internet, but i just can't for some reason.
So for now, i'm going to post these interesting links
Mind you, imageboard history and other such subjects are already posted on 22chan already, so if you want to read about it, then just go through the catalogs.
(Although i am going to post a book that's about meme culture, and the history of 4chan, it's just the fact that i'm a jackass that didn't notice it in the first place lol)
The aforementioned book : https://github.com/bibanon/bibanon/wiki/Epic-Win-For-Anonymous
A quarter of this book was posted on bibanon for free, still in interesting read nontheless : https://github.com/bibanon/bibanon/wiki/Netizens-Netbook
The amazon link to the book : https://www.amazon.com/Netizens-History-Impact-Usenet-Internet/dp/0818677066
Interested in reading the overall history of the internet, and finding moar books like the ones above? : https://www.nethistory.info/index.html
I cant find the proper words to describe this book : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Metamorphosis_of_Prime_Intellect
A rant about cyber nihilism : https://nihil.nyxus.xyz/posts/hello-from-the-wired/
(Where did everybody go?)
You know what sucks?
The internet becoming more and more corprate
I cant learn anything anymore without selling my personal data, and my money.
I dont even know why they say "oh if your curious about it, go to the internet!"
I just want to learn how to do things
Building a pc
But the info is either outdated or restricted.
And this really goes to almost everything
22ch is a safe haven to me but it seems like we've been going through a slow yet crazy month
And a good chunk of our userbase is gone.
encyclopaedia dramatica is down, thats why we havent been getting new people like always.
also yeah, internet aint as free like it used to be.
so i was pretty glad when twoot ditched jewgle captcha, at least one more place (((google))) doesnt have their grubby mitts on
Tbh, I feel that normalfags are people who are normal, but are cut into different groups of normies.
The first group is where we hate, normalfags who goes along with popular things, the one that is mostly full of younger people, sometime older because it's business or because they are a bad family member like a mother, father, aunt, uncle, anyone in the family, and is the one mostly the ones that ruined 4chan.
The second is the one that goes against popular culture, but still has similar beliefs and action. They are what we would call the most edgy ones.
Third is the one that is becoming rare, the "nice" ones or most "normal" one, one that has friends, do work, does things to get a job, and if they already are, try to make a family, or just live out their life without anything, and anything else that is irl stuff, but, isn't rude about it, one that is calm and just live normally without the popular things being an influences, yes, still can get upset, but still use the internet for other stuff than to talk, but if they talk, mostly do to have fun, and just enjoy it. It's mostly full of older people from their 50s or 60s, tho it's rare to see one of them.
If anyone has a different list, I would like to see it to try to add on to mine as well.
I do hate making shitty low quality elaborations but i found prime example of a edgy normalnigger in the wild
I do hope there wont be an autist that speaks of 22chan in this manner
What a bunch of autistshttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ciIq6jq5OJA
Why the fuck would you talk about 4chan on a podcast
not only that but they talk about it in the most retarded dramawhorish manner>normalfags
Gahhhh just the way they say normalfags
I guess one normalfag habit is to
you just cant keep the culture to yourself
you gotta expose it in the most dramawhoreish way possible
Sorry for being a dick like this
I know, its an old episode of some shitty podcast
Its just hearing sonething like this throws you off
Why do they have a need to expose and label things
I dont need to tell people that im a "imageboard user" i wouldnt need to act like one outside of an imageboard either. Its kinda stupid to go on youtube and try to pretend you have power over someone because your an imageboard user, and to use qoutes from imageboards and shit like that.
Just a correction
They said >newfags in a very grating manner not normalfag.
This is a fairly accurate assessment of imageboard culture. I wonder when the racism will stop though.
The internet is pretty much my secondary mother and father for a long while until I begin to just get along with them more. The meme culture changes for me, and it pretty much shape my humor along with my problems as well.
The internet culture started small, a interest in movies and sexual stuff, and it grows to memes and just being social.
Imageboard culture pretty much is the most enjoyable era when I use the internet, the funny stuff, the dark humor with light humor balancing it out, the stories.
I was pretty much the black sheep in the family for it, but now, I'm pretty much the one that most pretty much say I'm more "successful" for now.
the internet has been my only way to socialize. pretty sad but i live in a generally isolated area, and lack the skills to do so anyway.
once I made a post on an imageboard and some guy called Anonymous quoted me with a screaming bald man may may
i'm guessing that the screaming bald man maymay is wojack, well your in luck no ones a fan of him here>guy named anonymous
oh you dense little mother's son, you little tumor growth, pusillanimous tyke, wet-behind-the-ears, so innocent and naive. Poor lad, enemy of fate and luck alike, tragic fledgling hero of yore reduced to slave of more bitter beings.
oh you victim of self, martyr of the ego. Sun and moon will not forgive you, for they do not know your sin. They pass on all the same, bringing your fellow man closer and closer until there is no escape for ignorant tadpoles. How regrettable that you were born to come here and not elsewhere.
Ah! It's you again 0_o. This time I won't go easy on you, you'll be hearing from my lawyer soon for talking all that sh*t about my mother, you little maggot >:(
please stop sperging. it's off topic. if you want to shitpost go to >>>/sewers/
Did you not hear the wind last night? It certainly was eager to leave you behind. Maybe it saw your scars peeping between your bedsheets? It must be difficult to avoid seeing scars such as those that shiver in the face of the unknown. Wind does not blow through the sewers, perhaps you will should find solace there instead? The gators are always appreciative of company, especially those which do not see mischievous hands.
tl;dr ur an uptight lil btich
Looks like somebody just had a new experience with the internet
>>1690>new experience with the internet
what do you mean
i don't see the big deal, anon's just calling out the fact that the thread's been shat up by shitposting. it about feelings related by our time spent on the internet, and a board filled with long, quality filled rants. not shitposting.
>>1699>i don't see the big deal
Glad we're in agreement.
it's about the cancer that killed 4chan from invading here
Yes, that's very important. It's a good thing we have astute warriors like you to keep us safe.
it's literally rule 4 of 22chan. it exists for a reason.
Now that's what I call a bitch move. Just because you're getting pissed off doesn't mean I'm flaming, blasted hypocrite. I bet you know what a sheep's insides feel like.
>you're getting pissed off
implying i'm some how angry even though you seem very angey youself, and it's not nessary in the first place.
>flaming, blasted hypocrite.
When did i say that?
>I bet you know what a sheep's insides feel like.
Wait a minute, you're not angry?
how was newgrounds anyway? did it become diffrent over time? how is it now? (i ask this because i've never been there before and i only hear good things and nostalga)
Newgrounds lately has become a bit more pron focused in some aspects ever since the whole tumblr shutting down any r18 blogs.
they are also making a program that aims for flash to be working past the end of 2020 called ruffle at the moment it can run early flash stuff perfectly fine while the newer stuff doesn't work as well it also is fully website based so it can run on mobile which is nice.
I just went and watched all the flashes on our /f/ for the first time and it made me feel warm on the inside
cant explain why but i guess its just nice
The internet is becoming so centralized. Most of it seems to be concentrated into a few sites.
When I was a teenager I somehow got involved in some strange roleplaying scene on Facebook that revolved around Gorillaz. Everyone had fake profiles of various characters from the Gorillaz universe. I remember the one for 2D (the main singer of the band) having something like a thousand friends, which was uncommon back then. They all interacted with each other, acting out scenes and shit. It never got sexual. There were also a few OC characters they somehow connected to Gorillaz through some shitty fan-fiction.
I remember once when chatting with them in the comments of some post, some random guy popped in the comment thread and asked why we were all acting like made up characters. I replied "Cause real life sucks!", and a bunch of them agreed with me and sent me friend requests. I didn't understand the gravity of my words at the time but thinking back on it I think all these profiles were just depressed teens like me who felt out of place IRL and created a more suitable reality through the internets.
Those profiles died one by one until all of them were abandoned. I quit social media because that shit isn't good for your mental health but I often wonder where those people are now and if they ever think about me.
I mean on one hand i understand the whole "real life sucks" thing. I go to the interwebs to escape, but Role playing as the characters seems like a bit much
I hate that the internet has become too centralized. Groups you don't want to see almost become unavoidable. Politispergs show up on anything remotely to do with politics. Most teenagers on the internet make it painfully apparent they are teenagers and their cringy behaviors is painful for everyone to see. Normalfags lack self awareness or don't care for the place they are at when they lower the quality.
I agree. I never got seriously into it, I just had my normal profile and "hung out" with them online.
epin lole fukin saved
It pisses me off how normalfags dont care they are advertising for companys by the memes they make. Like, someone hit some other guy with a bottle of twisted tea, and so the normalfags make blantant ads by re-playing the guy getting hit and the sound byte of the company's "get twisted" catch phrase. That's just one example. Also, companys make memes themselves, like KFC even went as far as to make one of those "soyjack" memes. Why dont people realise this isn't normal or healthy?
I feel like it's been like that ever since the term "meme" started being used outside of the internet in 2013. Also is the KFC thing real, if I may ask? The concept of memes have been dead to me personally since last year, as I truly got sick of normalfags stomping every little thing that comes out into the ground in less than a week or so.
check this cursed trips anyway i'll just link to the actual post because i saw a screencap of the thing on 4chan and i honestly thought it was shooped untill i dug up the real thing.
i agree with disliking memes anyway. for kfc, i don't know how they somehow made something cancerous even more cancerous.
Memes are free advertising for megacorps, normies are just too dumb to see it. I wouldn't be surprised if corporations had people on payroll making memes and circulating them on social media.
I started with flash games as a little kid, lots of newgrounds and other flash gaming sites. The internet had so much SOUL back then and now it feels like some machine designed to swallow people and spit them out in pieces.
I used to play flash games on armorgames, and sites that had flashs enabled like 4kids or whatever bullshit kid-safe site
remember the old Lego website with the cool ass games they had there? The dino hunting one was my favorite. I also used to play incredibots.
bionicle point and click flash game was badass honestly. "mata nui online" or something like that, played the hell out of that one.
oh shit i know what your talking about! creepy parasite thing with high pitch noises and flashing lights. i think it was about a thing stuck in a body wanting to become human. the game was on newgrounds but it got deleted.
You remember correct. The parasite became bigger as you consumed more blocks and the game had these creepy messages in between. You can still find it on other flash game sites.
